Job Description:

You will be working at a specialized technical laboratory in the Arnhem region that plays a key role in the energy transition. In this lab, electrical components are tested and certified before they find their way into energy grids worldwide.

The organization works with advanced testing equipment and is active for clients from all over the world. Innovation is central: continuous investment is made in new technologies and testing methods to meet the increasingly stringent requirements of the electricity industry.

It is an environment where technical craftsmanship is valued and where your work directly contributes to safe and reliable energy supply — now and in the future.

As a Generator Operator, you are responsible for controlling six generator groups used for short-circuit tests. From the control room, you maintain oversight: you monitor test procedures, measurements, and safety systems, and are in close contact with the test team.

During a test, you are the lead in the machine building. This requires not only technical knowledge but also decisiveness and a keen eye for what is happening on the floor. If something goes wrong during a shift, you are the one who, together with colleagues, tracks down and resolves the fault — both electrically and mechanically.

Outside of test periods, you work on the maintenance and availability of the installations across the entire site. This includes work on control systems, mechanical components, and generator maintenance.

Once every five weeks, you work a night shift, for which you receive an average allowance of 12% to 14% on all hours.

Tasks:

  • Operating and monitoring high-voltage installations from the control room
  • Controlling short-circuit generators during tests
  • Detecting and resolving faults, both electrical and mechanical
  • Maintenance and inspection of generators and control systems
  • Ensuring the availability and reliability of installations on the site
  • Working closely with maintenance and operations colleagues

Work Time:

  • Minimum 38 hours per week, with the possibility of overtime (up to 50 hours)

Salary:

  • €20.59 – €26.08 gross/hour (including average night shift allowance of 12-14%, 1x per 5 weeks)
  • 8% holiday allowance (paid weekly)
  • Travel expenses reimbursement of €0.23 per km

Experience:

  • Work experience and/or background in electrical engineering, with an affinity for mechanical engineering.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage safety and associated protocols.
  • Stress-resistant and decisive in a responsible environment.
  • Good collaborator who can also work independently.
  • Good command of the Dutch and/or English language (verbal and written).

Additional Info:

  • Category B driver's license required
  • Accommodation: Provided.
  • Transport provided.
  • Health insurance provided.
  • Weekly payment.
  • 25 vacation days per year (based on full-time).
  • Pension accrual: 23.4% of the pension basis.
  • Housing with private bedroom possible.
